Book Review: Shards of Earth, by Adrian Tchaikovsky

This week, I’m thrilled to be part of the blog tour for Shards of Earth, the first book in Adrian Tchaikovsky’s new Final Architecture trilogy. The tour is organised by The Write Reads in association with Black Crow PR, who furnished me with a free electronic copy of the book in exchange for this fair… Read More Book Review: Shards of Earth, by Adrian Tchaikovsky

Book Review: Day Zero, by C. Robert Cargill

For this week’s review, I got myself a front row seat to humanity’s extinction in Day Zero, C. Robert Cargill’s prequel to Sea of Rust. This fair and unbiased review was conducted with gratitude for the free electronic copy of the book which I received from the publisher, Gollancz. This review contains an affiliate link… Read More Book Review: Day Zero, by C. Robert Cargill

Book Review: The Broken God, by Gareth Hanrahan

Follow me once again into the smog-choked streets of Guerdon, as I review the third instalment in Gareth Hanrahan’s Black Iron Legacy series, The Broken God! This fair and unbiased review was conducted with gratitude for the free electronic copy of the book which I received from the publisher, Orbit. This review contains an affiliate… Read More Book Review: The Broken God, by Gareth Hanrahan

Book Review: Within Without, by Jeff Noon

This week, I’m once again braving the strange country of Jeff Noon’s imagination, as private investigator John Nyquist explores the mysterious city of Delirium in Within Without. This is the fourth Nyquist mystery to be published by Angry Robot, but knowledge of the preceding novels is not necessary to enjoy this one. This fair and… Read More Book Review: Within Without, by Jeff Noon

This #bookhaul is not entirely the result of a single trip, this is just everything I've bought since my last haul picture (probably on Twitter). I blame @thevoiceofboo for The Virgin Suicides, as she made it sound amazing. I can't remember who to blame for The Infinite and the Divine, but I know I was talking to someone about it - speak up if you think it was you!
A few holiday snaps! First pic - the dogs impatiently waiting in their cage to be allowed to explore their temporary home. Second pic - the ruined abbey at Dunwich as the sun sets. Third pic - my sister's dog Hudson looks mournfully on the empty breakfast plate that wasn't for him.
Easily the biggest book haul I've ever had! This is the result of a spending spree with a birthday book token. The bag was really heavy.
Just received this extremely cool set of bookends as a surprise gift! You can expect to see these in all my stack photos from now on, I absolutely love them!
My most recent read, finished last night. There's a lot of bioengineered food for thought in this one!
A helpful reminder that just because you can do something, that doesn't mean you should. Like taking pretty photos of a book lying in snow, for example. Thankfully, the book is OK, after I brushed off a lot of the clingy white stuff!
January's physical read books! It's been a great reading month for me, with a couple of ARC eBooks thrown in for good measure too (Rebecca Roanhorse's Black Sun and Stephen Deas' The Moonsteel Crown).
A couple of days in Wales - not in the happiest circumstances, sadly - but some beautiful views around here.
I don't even care that this won't fit alongside any of my other books, it's such a cool design! This month's #bookclub pick, courtesy of @jessicarose.1995, can't wait to get started on this one.
I actually won a competition! Courtesy of @rebellionpublishing, this arrived today, can't wait to read it!
UK giveaway!
Never happier than when he's got a snack #dogsofinstagram #dog #kingcharlescavalier #spanielsofinstagram #spaniel
